Heads of Security need all the truthful information by their team

#MostImportant consideration for #HeadsOfSecurity for many reasons.

When staff are fearful of losing their job or being embarrassed then they could lie, hide information or perhaps volunteer information for their own agenda. In wartime we need truth.

They could also lie, hide information or volunteer information for many other reasons as they could be blackmailed, desperate, corrupt or on ‘mission’.

In the case of wartime – ‘deadly mission’ to which could be because of recent radicalization or they are sleepers. We must accept the fact that social media is highly manipulative.

They could also be blackmailed or bullied to work in concert with others under duress.

Then there are some that are truly gullible and allow trespassers into the security realm so to speak by providing information or physically opening the doors and inviting chaos.

Cultural perception should be considered because in some cultures something is a crime and that crime to some in another culture is not considered a crime. Furthermore, if people are trained in the west does not mean they can read other cultures for many other reasons.

Abraham Maslow deduced the hierarchy of needs and wants. The needs being food, shelter sex, etc., besides the wants being love, acceptance and attention. Today, we need to add drugs, drink and sexual perversion could be classed as basic needs that could motivate people to do horrendous things.

Security Managers provide their team of peace of mind that they would not be fired or belittled if they made mistakes and encourage the team to provide all the truthful information as it is their professional obligation to find the crime and stopping it – protecting sites and saving lives. Do know that the retention level of people could be only 2 % after 16 days. So, professional managers use certain means to indoctrinate the mission.

The second method which is very powerful, is when all the team know that others in their team have had some form of lie, deception detection and critical situational interviewing education – THEN- they will either resign because the emotional pressure will be too powerful to contain themselves. Once this happens, then the manager should security investigate the case. Security investigators need to be considered to find the crime that the suspect could have been involved with.

The mission of security is our ethical code which is, ”just like ‘a surgeon’ that has no bias towards colour, religious believes, sexual orientation or political affiliations – we are here to do the job properly and ethically”
