In order to evaluate the potential market, we will look to 2 market segments where our products exhibit a clear advantage: fixed perimeter systems ( border and infrastructure) and mobile security systems.

In the fixed perimeter systems field we are competing with the Video Motion Detectors (VMD). The VMD is based on the picture analysis. During the last 2-3 years several tests were conducted and they brought up the high sensibility of VMD to the outdoor environment.

The advantage of our sensors is that they are "active", they do not analyze shadows but asses if there is an intruder by measuring the changes in the distances between the background and the target and size of the suspected object.

Moreover, it can take into account the target movement characteristics such as speed, directions etc. Due to the high resolution of our sensors in range and angle (centimeters and milliradians) the software can discriminate the movement of vegetation.

The sensors developed by the company where designed for mobile applications. They are robust, rigid, not affected by urban environment and vegetation, easy to install (can be operational within tens of seconds) and by adding Power Supply (batteries) and Wire Less they are easy to become "virtual guardians".

Since 2001 the institute is residing in a new, modern building on the Beutenberg campus in Jena. With 7,400 square meters of primary floorspace, some 1,500 square meters of greenhouse capacity and an annual budget of around EUR 10 million, the institute’s 270 research scientists and employees from 19 different countries have plenty of opportunities to study this exceptionally complex area of ecology – and to create a new basis for sustainable, environmentally friendly agriculture.

For Johan Brandenburg, technical director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology, protecting the building has exceptionally high priority: "A tour research center , we have a lot of expensiv equipment, some of which cost as much as EUR 2 million, which we completely rely on for the purposes of our work. In addition, the building is quite remote and accessible from all sides - making it a potential target for vandals and burglars." For a period of almost three years, a security company was responsible for protecting the building. "However, we were unable to achieve a satisfactory solution for round-the-clock surveillance. Security guards simply can't be at every single vulnerable point at the same time," explains Johan Brandenburg. Perimitrax is a covert perimeter intrusion detection sensor that generates an invisible electromagnetic field around buried sensor cables. If an intruder disturbs the field, an alarm is declared. In the case of a network system, the alarm is instantly communicated over the sensor cables to a PC-based central control system.
Unlike many sensors, Perimitrax intrusion detection sensor uses a large volumetric field to detect moving targets based on their electrical conductivity, size and movement.

Unless a target possesses the minimum alarm characteristics, it will not be detected. A person or vehicle crossing through the field is detected while small animals and birds are ignored. Common environmental false alarm sources like foliage, rain, snow and blowing sand are easily filtered out by Perimitrax's advanced adaptive algorithms. This intelligent signal processing provides the highest Probability of Detection (Pd) of any sensor type and an extremely low False and Nuisance Alarm Rate (FAR/NAR).

Because the sensor cables do not change site aesthetics and the detection field is invisible, intruders remain unaware of Perimitrax's presence and cannot locate, avoid or tamper with it.
